“Discovering this idyllic place, we find ourselves filled with a yearning to linger here, where time stands still and beauty overwhelms.”

It never gets dull living in Colorado, especially where your senses are concerned.

Day after day, locals have the advantage of inhaling breathtaking views that fill them up.  One of the top reasons, if not the #1 reason, that most people move to a Colorado resort town is for an outdoor lifestyle that includes the majestic Colorado Rockies.

Seasons of Glory

Whatever the weather, you’ll be amazed at the transcending beauty that permeates your senses and at times, overwhelms.

During foggy mornings, the clouds hover in the valley like billowy puffs of smoke, creating the perfect backdrop for cuddling on the couch with a loved one or reading a book with a hot cup of tension tamer.  These mornings typically happen during off-season, as if they serve to remind the locals to slow down and rest up for the season ahead.

Snowstorms excite the senses with anticipation of another powder day — skiing, snowshoeing or even snowmobiling.   Just walking around town during or after a big snowstorm causes giddy feelings, anxious smiling and deep chuckles.  Late night snowstorms can at times have the opposite effect.  It’s as if sometimes the snow swaddles the town in a soft white blanket, holding it and hushing it and whispering in its ear the secrets to a life well-lived.

Rain washes away the snow in order to awaken the most beautiful flowers, enabling them to rise in all their glory.  And the large, brilliant sun, which seems to be the most radiant here due to the altitude, helps to create a sparkling panorama that is unmatched elsewhere.

Being in the Colorado wilderness definitely awakens all your senses.  The cool, crisp mountain air keeps you on your toes, moving from one activity to another.  And the scent of green pines seems to permeate everything you do outdoors.

And let’s not forget the happiness factor.

The consistent sounds of abounding laughter and genuine joy is such a nice alternative to years of enduring the background hum of city living.  The ‘good mornings’ one receives from strangers and friends alike is such a sweet sound to behold and a consistent reminder of the welcoming community that surrounds you.

Everyone seems happy, and naturally so.  No forced smiles.  No fake greetings.  Life really does appear to be a never-ending vacation when you live in a resort town.  Tourists seem happy to be escaping the daily grind for at least a week or two.  Locals are happy that they’ve escaped the daily grind for at least a year or two (or more).

No matter where you look, nature’s beauty winks back making you feel gorgeous and alive.

It’s been said that people elevate to the level of beauty that surrounds them.  And I think that saying sums up what living in a resort town is truly like.

Locals, in many ways, are elevated.  And most definitely, blessed.
